Calgary Surge Sign Trevon Scott

May 11, 2023

CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Surge have signed six-foot-eight forward Trevon Scott from Townsend, GA for their 2023 inaugural season the team announced Thursday.

Scott most recently played for the Greensboro Swarm of the National Basketball Association (NBA) G-League where he averaged 17.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 34.5 minutes in 10 games played. He also made his NBA debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2021-22 season where he scored six points in nine minutes off the bench.

“Tre Scott will be one of the best players in our league. He’s an immediate impact guy on both ends of the floor. With his size, skill set, and athleticism, he will be a matchup nightmare for our opponents,” said Surge General Manager, Shane James.

The Townsend local spent his National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) career at the University of Cincinnati where he averaged 6.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and 21.4 minutes in 135 games. During the 2019-20 season at the University of Cincinnati, Scott led the AAC in rebounds and ranked eighth in the nation for defensive rebounds. That year, he was the AAC Defensive Player of the Year, AAC Most Improved Player and won the AAC Sportsmanship Award.

“I am super excited to get out to Calgary and be a part of the Surge! I heard it was a great city so I’m looking forward to experiencing it firsthand and bringing some wins to the city,” said Scott.

About the Calgary Surge
The Calgary franchise originated as the Guelph Nighthawks in 2018, one of the six founding members of the CEBL. The organization was relocated from the league’s smallest market to Calgary in August 2022 as part of the growing league's business strategy to have teams in Canada’s largest metropolitan areas. Chairman Usman Tahir Jutt and Vice-Chairman and President Jason Ribeiro saw an opportunity to bridge Calgary’s diverse communities together through sport and entertainment and to create a sense of belonging.
