The Montréal Alliance is proud to announce the signing of Canadian centre Ben Stevens for the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. The 6-foot-10 Halifax, Nova Scotia native joins the Alliance after gaining valuable professional experience across three continents.
“We’re pleased to add Ben’s size and rebounding ability to our roster,” said Joel Anthony, General Manager and co-owner of the Alliance. “His international experience and physicality will give us valuable depth in the frontcourt as we continue to build for the future.”
Stevens comes to Montréal fresh off stints with Vardar in North Macedonia’s Prva Liga, where he averaged an impressive double-double of 11.2 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, and Koblenz in Germany’s ProA league. The well-traveled big man has also showcased his skills in Australia’s NBL1 with both the South West Slammers and Central Coast Crusaders, as well as in Azerbaijan with Sarhedci PIK Baku.
During his 2024 campaign with the Central Coast Crusaders in Australia’s NBL1 East, Stevens dominated the boards with averages of 16.8 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, demonstrating his ability to be a formidable presence in the paint.
Stevens developed his game at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he played five seasons with the Golden Hawks. His collegiate career saw steady improvement each year, culminating in his best statistical season in 2022-23 when he averaged 10.1 points and 9.2 rebounds while finishing in the OUA’s top ten for defensive rebounding, offensive rebounding, total rebounds, and field goal percentage.
“I’m beyond excited to be back in Canada and play for the Alliance,” said Stevens. “I’m ready to help the team in whatever capacity Coach Small needs me, and I look forward to meeting Alliance fans this summer at the Verdun Auditorium.”
The upcoming 2025 season will be the longest in CEBL history with each team playing 24 regular season games, including 12 home contests for the Alliance at the Verdun Auditorium and IGA Stadium. The Alliance will play its home opener on May 18 against the Brampton Honey Badgers.
In a groundbreaking event, the Alliance will host the first-ever outdoor 5x5 professional basketball game in Canadian history at IGA Stadium on May 23. The event, named: “Éclipse : Match sous les étoiles”, offers fans a unique opportunity to experience professional basketball under the open sky. Tickets start at just $25 and are available at
