April 10, 2023

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite basketball League (CEBL) have announced the signing of 6’7” forward Jermaine Haley to their 2023 roster. The West Virginia Mountaineers alumni most recently played for the Cleveland Charge and Grand Rapids Gold of the NBA G-League.

“I’m excited to be joining the Stingers this season,” said Haley. “Steve and Jordan have put together an exceptional group of players that I am looking forward to competing with. I’ve heard Edmonton has the best fans in the CEBL and can’t wait to compete in front of them this season.”

During this past year, Haley completed his third professional season as a member of the Charge and Gold, competing in a total of 9 games and tallying a season-best 9 points, 5 rebound performance on March 22 with Grand Rapids.

This was his second stint in the G-League, as he also played 7 games with the Gold during the 2021-22 season. He later closed out the year with the London Lightning of the NBLC,  averaging 12.9 points and 4.7 rebounds in 16 games. The Vancouver, BC, native started his professional career in 2020-21 with HARKO Merlins of the Basketball Bundesliga in Germany.

Collegiately, Haley averaged 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 130 games in the NCAA Division I and in the NJCAA, including two years with West Virginia University, one year with Odessa College and one year with New Mexico State University. In 2018-19, during his first year with West Virginia, he recorded 12 games in double figures, including nine of the last 10 contests and led the team with 37 steals.

“We're excited to have Jermaine with us this season,” said Stingers general manager Steve Sir. “He brings a unique blend of size, versatility and skill that Stinger fans will enjoy watching this summer.”
