Scarborough Shooting Stars Re-Sign Young for 2024 Season

The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Friday that they have re-signed forward Kalif Young. The 6-foot-9 forward becomes the team’s second re-signing of the season, joining point guard Cat Barber on the Shooting Stars 2024 roster.


The Toronto native averaged 8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1 block and 1.3 steals in 26 minutes per game through 24 games with the Shooting Stars last season. Young’s 11 points, 11 rebound performance assisted the Shooting Stars in defeating Niagara in last year’s CEBL semi-finals en route to their 2023 CEBL Championship.


The Providence College graduate played this past season for Anwil of the Polish OBL where he averaged 6.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks in 23 games. Anwil also competed in the Europe Cup where Young averaged 6.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.7 steals in 6 games.


The reigning CEBL Champions open their season on May 24 at the Canada Life Centre where they will take on the Winnipeg Sea Bears. The team welcomes the Niagara River Lions to the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre on June 1 for their home opener and championship banner drop.
