Scarborough Shooting Stars Re-Sign Marcus Anderson

May 12, 2023

The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Friday that they have re-signed Marcus Anderson. The 6-foot-3 guard just finished his season with Paderborn of the Germany-ProA where he averaged 6.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.7 steals in 25.2 minutes per game through 33 games.

“Marcus is a terrific defender and he has improved his offensive skill set this season in Germany,” said general manager Brady Heslip. “He has developed in winning cultures and knows what it takes to win a championship. We will look to Marcus to set the tone defensively and be the best on-ball defender in the league. We are excited to have him back and are looking for him to take a big step forward this summer."

Anderson averaged 4.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists for the Shooting Stars last season. The Carleton alum is a four time U SPORTS National Champion and was named the U SPORTS Defensive Player of the Year in two consecutive seasons (2017-18, 2018-19).

The Brampton guard becomes the Shooting Stars seventh re-signing of the season. He will join 2022 teammates Kalif Young, Jalen Harris, David Muenkat, Danilo Djuricic, Kassius Robertson and Kam Chatman on this year’s roster.

The Shooting Stars open training camp May 18 at Royal Crown Academic School in preparation for their season opener May 26 at the CAA Centre, in a rematch of last year’s CEBL championship game versus the Brampton Honey Badgers. Scarborough welcomes the Winnipeg Sea Bears to the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre for their first home game on June 2.
