Scarborough Shooting Stars Re-Sign Djuricic for 2023 Season

May 9, 2023

The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that they have re-signed Danilo Djuricic. The 6-foot-8 forward just finished his season in the Czech Republic where he averaged 9.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 22.3 minutes per game through 26 games for Brno.

"Danilo really found his stride and played big for us in the second half of last season. He is a great teammate and we have loved watching him grow into an established professional,” said general manager Brady Heslip. “Danilo had an incredible season overseas and we expect that to bolster his confidence this year as a returning player. We anticipate Danilo will have a breakout season and be a major contributor on both ends of the floor."

The Harvard alum averaged 5.8 points and 3.6 rebounds through 91 games over three seasons with the Crimson. He helped Harvard to two consecutive Ivy League championships and berths into the NIT during his freshman and sophomore years.

This is the Toronto native’s second year playing professionally. He began his career with Brno of the Czech Republic NBL where he averaged 5.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 17.8 minutes per game through 29 games. Djuricic averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game for the Shooting Stars last season.

The Shooting Stars open training camp May 18 at Royal Crown Academic school in preparation for their season opener May 26 at the CAA Centre, in a rematch of last year’s CEBL championship game versus the Brampton Honey Badgers. Scarborough welcomes the Winnipeg Sea Bears to the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre for their first home game on June 2.
