The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced today that it has selected Sponsorship Canada, a division of REVXM, to lead the CEBL’s strategic partnership strategy as the league prepares for its next growth phase. In 2022 the CEBL has expanded to become the largest domestic professional sport league in Canada, with ten teams playing in six provinces coast-to-coast. As it prepares for its fourth season, securing a partnership with a respected, established leader in the Canadian sport sponsorship landscape is a critical part of the league’s continued growth strategy.
The partnership with Sponsorship Canada is focused on evaluating the CEBL’s sponsorship assets, identifying growth opportunities for the league and its partners, and connecting prospective brands with the league. Sponsorship Canada will work to develop the league’s sponsorship strategy, providing brands with the ability to connect with its consumers through the CEBL’s national broadcast partner at CBC Sports, globally on the CEBL+ streaming platform, in-arena and throughout the communities in which CEBL teams play.
“Growth has been synonymous since our inception in 2019 and I am excited to have Sponsorship Canada come on board and lead our business into our fourth season and beyond as we look to attract blue chip Canadian and international partners coast-to-coast,” said Mike Morreale, CEO and Commissioner of the CEBL.
Sponsorship Canada is a division of REVXM, launched in 2006 to assist properties and events in maximizing their sponsorship asset potential through strategic partnerships and alliances. Specifically, Sponsorship Canada is striving to uncover how technology and innovation, including the CEBL’s new CEBL+ streaming platform, can lead to new revenue streams and commercial content for league partners.
“We are extremely excited to extend our partnership with the fantastic team at the CEBL as we play our role in helping to grow the game of basketball in Canada. Basketball has quickly become our nation’s fastest growing sport, so it is no surprise to us to see the CEBL’s unparalleled growth to become the largest Canadian professional sport league. We are honoured to be an extension of the CEBL office and look forward to continuing the momentum by building unique, industry-disrupting partnerships with corporate Canada,” stated Shawn Small, Director, Business Development for Sponsorship Canada.
In May the CEBL will open its fourth season, featuring 10 teams coast-to-coast, including three expansion teams located in Scarborough, Montreal and Newfoundland. The season will conclude with the biggest basketball party in Canada, Championship Weekend hosted in Ottawa from August 11-14,2022. Following the 2021 season five CEBL players signed NBA contracts, including Xavier Moon, Lindell Wigginton, Cat Barber, Javin Deslaurier and Xavier Sneed. In 2022 CEBL games will be broadcast nationally on CBC Sports and made available for free in Canada on the CEBL’s proprietary streaming platform CEBL+.
About Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL)
The CEBL is Canada’s largest domestic professional sport league, beginning its fourth season in May 2022 with ten teams located in six provinces coast-to-coast. A league created by Canadians for Canadians, the CEBL was born from a need to provide Canadians with a premium basketball option that gives players, coaches, fans, and other stakeholders the opportunity to engage with Canada’s fastest growing sport. Players bring experience from the NBA, NBA G-League, top international FIBA leagues, the Canadian National team program, and top NCAA and USPORTS programs. It uses FIBA (International Basketball Federation) rules, and player and referee standards set by its partner, Canada Basketball. The CEBL became the first professional basketball league in the world to use the Elam Ending in FIBA competition, when it incorporated the innovative conclusion into all its games during the 2020
