The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), in collaboration with the Vancouver Bandits, is set to host Canada’s biggest basketball celebration of the year when CEBL Championship Weekend (CW23) arrives in Vancouver BC from August 9 – 13. As part of the weekend’s festivities, the CEBL revealed Thursday that Juno Awards – nominated Canadian singer, songwriter, rapper and visual artist, SonReal will headline the annual CEBL life Concert Series starting 8 p.m. PDT on August 12 at Good Co. Granville in Vancouver. He is also the official performer of the CEBL Championship Game Halftime Show on August 13.

is the moniker of Canadian singer, songwriter, rapper and visual artist Aaron Hoffman. He has years of international touring, more than a dozen award nominations including the Juno awards, 130 million video views and over 200 million global streams to his credit.
Vancouver-based Canadian rapper, Boslen will also feature as an opening act at the Concert Series, along with other artists to be revealed at a later date. Boslen made waves with his 2021 full-length debut album Dusk to Dawn, which included collaborations with Dro Kenji and Rascalz. His Gonzo EP was nominated for the Rap Album/EP of the Year at the 2023 Juno Awards.

CW23 will see four teams including the host Bandits compete for a chance to win the CEBL Championship trophy. The multi-day event will also feature minor basketball events, the annual CEBL Awards (August 9) at the Sky Hangar in Pitt Meadows, BC to honour the best basketball talent across the CEBL, and the Commissioner’s Breakfast (August 11) that will feature an esteemed panel of speakers discussing the growth and elevation of basketball across Canada and beyond. The Langley Events Centre will host both the CEBL Conference Final double header on August 11 beginning at 5 p.m. PDT and the Championship Game on August 13 with a 4 p.m. PDT tipoff.

The CEBL postseason will feature play-in games between the third and fourth-ranked teams in each conference after Vancouver has been advanced to Championship Weekend as the host team. Winners will advance to the conference semifinals and play the second-best team of their respective conferences. The fifth-ranked team in each conference will be eliminated unless Vancouver places fifth in the west, in which case the fourth-ranked west team will get eliminated. Conference semifinal winners will play their respective conference teams already seeded in the Conference finals at Championship Weekend on August 11.

A league created by Canadians for Canadians with a mission to develop Canadian players, coaches, sports executives, and referees, the CEBL boasts the highest percentage of Canadian players of any pro league in the country with 71 percent of its 2022 rosters being Canadian. Players bring experience from the NBA, NBA G League, top international pro leagues, the Canadian National team program, and top NCAA programs as well as U SPORTS. Nine players have moved from the CEBL into the NBA following a CEBL season, and 28 CEBL players attended NBA G League training camps during October. The CEBL season runs from May through August.
