EDMONTON - The Edmonton Stingers announced Wednesday that they have re-signed Jermaine
Small as their Head Coach and General Manager for the 2020 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL)
season.
Small took over as head coach and GM from Barnaby Craddock on June 19, before guiding the Stingers to
a 10-2 record in their inaugural season. The Stingers ended the season with a 14-6 record and a second place
finish that helped them secure the second seed in the CEBL Championship Weekend semi-finals. They lost to
the eventual 2019 CEBL champions, the Saskatchewan Ratters, in the semis.
“I am truly humbled and excited that the Stingers want me back. The support that the fans, front office
and the city have showed me made it an easy decision to return,” said Small. “I look forward to continuing to
build the Stingers brand, grow the game of basketball in the community, and help bring the championship
trophy to the city of Edmonton.”
During his first season, Small provided strong leadership and guided the team to nine-straight wins in the
regular season, which currently stands as a league record.
“We’re extremely happy to have Jermaine back with our organization for the 2020 season” said Stingers
president Brett Fraser. “He has played an instrumental role in not only developing our young players for
success but has also set up a winning culture and foundation that our organization wants to continue to grow
and build upon.”
The Edmonton Stingers return to the Expo Centre in May 2020 for their second season in the CEBL.
