University of Saskatchewan Alumni returns to the Rattlers

Saskatoon, Sask. (Apr. 23, 2020) - The Saskatchewan Rattlers, member club of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are excited to announce the signing of Canadian guard Evan Ostertag. 

Ostertag spent the 2019 CEBL season as part of the Rattlers practice squad. The 6-foot-1 guard spent five years with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies where he graduated from in 2016. In his fifth and final year with the Huskies, Ostertag averaged 15.9 points, 2.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 31.3 minutes per game. A native of Saskatoon, SK- Ostertag attended high school at Holy Cross. 

“We are excited to have Evan back with us for 2020”, said Rattlers GM Barry Rawlyk. “Obviously I’ve gotten to know Evan very well from his time at the University of Saskatchewan and last season with the Rattlers. Evan is an exceptional teammate and team player who elevates the game of everyone around him. He is a positive influence in the locker room and on the court and we are happy to have him back.” 

The Rattlers enter the 2020 season as the defending CEBL Champions. They are set to begin their second season this summer. For more information visit therattlers.ca.

The 2019 inaugural season saw more than 100 Canadian and international players take to the court, culminating with the Saskatchewan Rattlers earning the first CEBL championship trophy. CEBL players come from NBA G-League clubs, top NCAA programs, the Canadian national program, U SPORTS and other Division 1 FIBA leagues. As the First Division Professional League partner of Canada Basketball, the CEBL is set to start its second season in May 2020.
