2019 CEBL Championship Weekend MVP set to return to the Rattlers

Saskatoon, Sask. (Mar. 24, 2020) - The Saskatchewan Rattlers, member club of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are excited to announce that 2019 team captain, Alex Campbell has re-signed with the team for the 2020 season. 

Campbell finished the season as the CEBL Championship Weekend MVP after he dropped 20 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists in the Championship Final. The Brampton, Ont.-native finished the season averaging 15.5 PPG, 42.5 FG%, 5.2 REB and 2.5 AST over the course of 21 games. Campbell is currently playing for the Island Storm in the National Basketball League of Canada. Campbell played for the University of Windsor and spent time overseas playing in Spain for CB Prat Juventud in the past. In addition, Campbell was a member of the 40th Annual William Jones Cup Canadian National. Known for his leadership and work in the community, the 6-foot-2 guard served the 2019 season as the team captain. 

“Alex is an absolute warrior on the court. His game improved consistently as the season went on which culminated in his MVP performance in the Championship Final,” said Rattlers GM Barry Rawlyk. “He was extremely consistent for us during the season and was a leader on and off the court. Alex was also a fantastic community member – he was often the first to be involved in community outreach programs and travelled extensively throughout the province last season to promote the team. We are excited to welcome Alex back to Saskatchewan!”

The Rattlers enter the 2020 season as the defending CEBL Champions. They will open the season away from home on May 8 when they take on the Fraser Valley Bandits. The Rattlers home opener will take place on May 14 against the Bandits, when they will celebrate the 2019 season by unveiling the first-ever CEBL Championship banner. Season tickets and flex packs are available on therattlers.ca , with group and single-game tickets expected to be released in the coming months.
