The Saskatchewan Rattlers look to get back to .500 when they host the Edmonton Stingers, who want to get back on the right track, on Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Rattlers are 3-4 while the Stingers come in at 4-3.

This is the second time these two teams will match up this season. In their previous matchup on May 29 th , the Stingers came away with a 84-71 victory at home. In that game, four Stingers finished in double-digit points led by Brody Clarke inside with 22 points, Jordan Baker recording a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds, and David Pekarek’s perimeter shooting giving him 13 points on a trio of threes.

The shooting of the Rattlers, specifically Scottie Lindsey shined, as he scored 24 points to lead the Rattlers with his guard tandem Tony Carr adding 19 points and Devonte Bandoo getting 14 points. The Stingers depth with Aher Uguak and Devon Bookert gave the Stingers 24 bench points to the Rattlers four and kept them in the lead from the second quarter onward.

Since then, both of these teams enter this game off of losses. The Rattlers went up and down in their last two games, defeating the River Lions 86-81 in St. Catharines and falling to the Scarborough Shooting Stars 99-83 at home. Throughout the Rattlers win and loss, Carr’s ability to get to the rim and Lindsey’s shooting have been constant and effective. Carr scored 25 in their win over Niagara and 21 in their loss to Scarborough, on 50 per cent and 42 per cent shooting. Lindsey gives the Rattlers more perimeter shooting and he made 10 threes over their last two games, most recently eight in their loss to Scarborough.

In a matchup with Xavier Rathan-Mayes and Jalen Harris, Carr and Lindsey found their rhythm and helped the Rattlers offence keep up with the Shooting Stars. Now in a matchup with Mathieu Kamba and Jahmal Jones of the Stingers, the efficient shot selection will help the Rattlers, while Jordy Tshimanga and D’Andre Bernard work the paint against Brody Clarke and Jordan Baker.

Tshimanga worked the glass for nine rebounds against the Shooting Stars forwards in Kameron Chatman and Kalif Young. Coming off the bench, Bernard scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds during their win over Niagara. The pairing of Tshimanga and Bernard will be up against two effective rebounders and scorers in Clarke and Baker, but their ability to create spacing will help the rim attack of Carr, Lindsey and Bandoo.

On the other side, the Stingers are coming off of two losses, a 84-81 close loss to the Fraser Valley Bandits and a 78-69 loss to the Scarborough Shooting Stars. A key for the Stingers play has been the offense of Clarke. Clarke scored 19 in their loss to Fraser Valley and combined with the facilitation and rebounding of Baker to create a frontcourt that can attack from any angle.

The Stingers forwards also saw the return of Marlon Johnson in their recent game against Scarborough, and his size and rim protection will go up against Tshimanga and the presence inside that the Rattlers show.

Outside, Jahmal Jones and Adika Peter-Mcneilly facilitate the Stingers offence, while Pekarek and Kamba provide perimeter shooting. Pekarek shot 60 per cent from three in their loss to Edmonton, with Uguak making two of four threes.
