Ottawa BlackJacks Sign Free Agent Kaza Kajami-Keane

The Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday the signing of free agent guard Kaza Kajami-Keane.

A six-foot-one guard from Ajax, Ontario, Kajami-Keane averaged 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 24.9 minutes in 111 games as a pro in Germany, Netherlands and the NBA G-League.

Kajami-Keane has spent the past season playing for Mitteldeutscher BC (MBC) in the German Basketball Bundesliga, where he averaged 15.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 27.8 minutes in 19 games. He scored a career-high 31 points on October 4 against Hamburg, hitting five-of-six shooting from behind the arc. During the 2018-2019 campaign, he averaged 18.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.7 steals and 30.4 minutes in 45 games for Landstede Basketbal Zwolle of the Dutch Basketball League. Kajami-Keane spent his first season as a pro playing for the Raptors 905 of the NBA G-League. 

A Communications and Media Studies major, Kajami-Keane has represented Canada on various occasions since 2013. Most recently, he played for the Canadian Senior National team in the 2019 FIBA AmeriCup and World Cup in China. He also represented Canada at the 2017-18 World Cup Qualifiers and played on the Canadian University National Team in the 2017 World University Games.
Kajami-Keane played 135 university games split between Carleton University, Cleveland State University and Illinois State University. As a member of the Carleton Ravens, he won two CIS (U SPORTS) championships. In his senior season, he averaged 15.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 24.9 minutes in 19 games. He recorded a career-high 27 points along with seven rebounds and eight assists January 21 against Lakehead.

Kajami-Keane grew up in a basketball family. His two older sisters, Kalisha and Takima, set the tone with successful careers on the court. Kalisha played college hoops at Michigan State and pursued basketball professionally playing for teams in Europe and Australia. A Cleveland State Vikings alumnus, Takima Keane is currently an NCAA assistant coach for the Binghampton Bearcats women’s basketball team. 

In May, the Ottawa BlackJacks announced its official training camp roster for the inaugural 2020 season. There are currently 13 players signed to the BlackJacks roster, including 10 standard player contracts and three development player contracts as a result of the 2020 CEBL / U SPORTS Draft. 
Three of the players, who are signed by Ottawa under contract, will be announced later today which will mark the completion of the Ottawa BlackJacks 2020 inaugural training camp roster.
