OTTAWA , ON - The Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that Canadian forward, Tyrell Bellot-Green, has signed with the club for the upcoming 2021 CEBL season.

During Guelph’s quarter-final loss to the BlackJacks, Bellot-Green contributed a bench-high 14 points.
While playing for Ura Basket of the Finland-Korisliiga last season, Bellot-Green scored a career-high 30 points, which included eight-for-11 from beyond the arc, accompanied by 6 rebounds and 4 assists, October 7, versus Korigait.
The 25-year-old has represented Canada on multiple occasions, including one game for the senior men’s national team in 2020 during a FIBA AmeriCup qualifying game against Dominican Republic, netting a triple. He also wore his country’s colours at the 2012 U17 FIBA World Cup where he averaged 7.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 19.8 minutes in eight games and was on the national team at the 2011 U16 Americas Championship where he averaged 10.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 18.4 minutes in five games.

He went five-for-six from beyond the arc as part of a 23-point game just two weeks later November 26 against Western Kentucky. He played two seasons at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas before transferring to UNLV.
The Ottawa BlackJacks previously announced the signing of hometown guard, Johnny Berhanemeskel , and fellow national team guard Junior Cadougan , in addition to NBA G-League and Michigan State alumni forward Nick Ward .
Last month, the Ottawa BlackJacks, in collaboration with the CEBL, announced its 2021 regular season 14-game schedule, opening up with a game on the road versus Hamilton on Saturday June 5 at 7pm. After starting the campaign on a three-game road trip, Ottawa will play its first home game in franchise history on Thursday, June 24 at 7 p.m. versus the Niagara River Lions .
CBC is the premier media partner of the CEBL and will broadcast nationally televised games on seven consecutive Saturdays beginning June 5. The BlackJacks will appear three times on national television and all regular season games will also be live streamed on the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca , the CBC Sports app and on a new OTT streaming platform the CEBL will unveil this spring.
The CEBL is preparing for its third season in 2021 following the success of this past year's CEBL Summer Series in St. Catharines, Ontario, which saw millions of viewers across Canada and around the world tune in to watch 26 games played over 15 days in a single-site league competition. The CEBL became the first professional sports league in Canada to return to play after the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in mid-March shut down sports across the country.
Quotes:
“Tyrell has good size at the forward position but can also spot up and hit the three-ball. He’s a versatile player who will fit in well with Coach Dubé-Brais’ style of basketball.”
- Jevohn Shepherd , General Manager, Ottawa BlackJacks Basketball Club
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to play in Ottawa for the CEBL season. Jevohn (Shepherd) and Andy (Rautins) have assembled a great roster of players and coaches.
