August 10, 2021
CEBL Team

T he Canadian Elite Basketball League ( CEBL ) and NowFantasy announced today the introduction of CEBL Fantasy for the 2021 playoffs including CEBL Championship Weekend.

CEBL Fantasy
is a free to play game that gives fans an opportunity to engage with the excitement of playoff basketball like never before and compete for prizes.

Fans get to build their own
Fab Five by selecting 2 guards and 3 forwards from any of the remaining CEBL playoff teams. Every CEBL player is given a value based on the individual’s performance through the 2021 regular season. The challenge of creating a dream team is keeping the fantasy selections under a budget of 100. Fantasy teams score points based on real individual player statistics from each playoff game.

The top fantasy team from each round (quarterfinal, semifinal, final) will receive a prize. The team with the highest cumulative score from all three rounds will win a grand prize, which includes 2022 Championship Weekend game passes.

Participants can
sign up for CEBL Fantasy and pick a team before the lineups lock at tip-off of the first quarterfinal game scheduled for 4 PM ET, August 14 when the Ottawa BlackJacks take on the Hamilton Honey Badgers at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton. The second quarterfinal game will take place at the Abbotsford Centre when the Guelph Nighthawks take on the Fraser Valley Bandits. Winners of both games will move on to the semifinals at Championship Weekend where they will either play hosts, the Edmonton Stingers, or the second seeded Niagara River Lions on August 22 starting 7 PM ET.

A league created by Canadians for Canadians, the CEBL has the highest percentage of Canadian players of any professional league in the country, with 75 percent of its current rosters being Canadians. Players bring experience from the NBA, NBA G League, top international leagues, including Division 1 FIBA leagues, the Canadian National team program, and top NCAA programs as well as U SPORTS. The only First Division Professional League Partner of Canada Basketball, the CEBL season typically runs from May through August. Head to CEBL.ca for more information or follow us on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook & YouTube.

All CEBL playoff games will be televised live on CBC TV nationally and be available for live streaming on the CEBL’s new OTT streaming service
