EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Stingers of the CEBL have signed Marlon Johnson and Brody Clarke to their 2022 roster. Johnson and Clarke played for the Stingers in 2021 and 2020 respectively and will add size and starpower to the Stingers roster.
Johnson played for the Stingers in 2021 and was an integral part of the team’s championship, scoring 15.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 31.0 minutes per game. His highlight-worthy hops earned him the nickname “Dunk King” around the CEBL and fans are sure to love his exciting style of play. For his outstanding play he was named to the 2021 All-CEBL Second team. Johnson has spent the 2021-2022 season playing for the New Taipei CTBC DEA of the Taiwanese T1 League, averaging 18.2 points per game.
Clarke will rejoin the Stingers after a year-long CEBL hiatus following his graduation from the University of Alberta in 2021. Edmontonians will remember Clarke’s successful U Sports career as a Golden Bear, where he led his team to a Canada West Championship in 2017. In the inaugural 2019 CEBL season, Clarke was named the first ever U Sports Player of the Year, and in 2020 he averaged 10.8 points per game en route to the Stingers first CEBL Championship For the past two seasons, Clarke has suited up for Gladiators Treves of the German ProA. He currently averages 11.2 points and 6.8 rebounds for Gladiators.
The Stingers are excited to begin their journey of defending their back-to-back CEBL Championships in search of the coveted threepeat. The 2022 Stingers season will see 10 home and 10 away games, beginning with a homestand against the Niagara River Lions on May 27th at 7:00 pm.
