Guelph Nighthawks Re-Sign Marcus Anderson

Marcus Anderson returns to the Guelph Nighthawks following his impeccable debut during the 2020 CEBL Summer Series . The 6-foot-3 guard was selected third overall by the Nighthawks in the 2020 CEBL - U SPORTS Draft after his five-year career at Carleton University.


In his freshman year at Carleton, Anderson was selected to the OUA All-Rookie Team. The Brampton native soon became the one to watch on defense as he was named the U SPORTS Defensive Player of the Year and OUA Defensive Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons (2017-18, 2018-19). During his five years as a Carleton Raven, Anderson and his team were crowned U SPORTS National Champions in four of his five seasons.



The 24-year-old made his CEBL debut in the 2020 Summer Series representing Nighthawks Nation, playing in all seven games, averaging nearly three points, three assists, and three rebounds per game. Anderson was runner-up CEBL Defensive Player of the Year following the conclusion of the Summer Series.

The Nighthawks start their CEBL  2021 season  on June 28. All games are available on  CBCSports.ca and the CBC Gem App via Android or iOS devices. The CEBL led the NHL, NBA and later the CPL in  returning to play in Canada  after the coronavirus shut down the sports world in March of 2020. The CEBL Summer Series put professional basketball on the television and digital screens of millions of viewers across Canada and around the world, establishing the league as the top Canadian-based global team sports brand. The 2021 season set to start on June 24, will build on that momentum with an expanded viewing audience around the world, and locally through an innovative approach to addressing the uncertainties due to the pandemic around having fans in arenas across the league.
