Both the Hamilton Honey Badgers (1-2) and Fraser Valley Bandits (0-2) are looking for a series of firsts on Wednesday night when the Honey Badgers travel to Abbotsford, B.C.
Hamilton has yet to win a game away from home this season. They’ve lost two straight games – both to the Saskatchewan Rattlers. Meanwhile, the Bandits are still searching for their first CEBL victory.
The Honey Badgers sit fourth in the standings while the Bandits are last place as both teams look to improve on their respective records.
Hamilton has been led offensively by the likes of Ricky Tarrant Jr. (36 points in their first game against the Rattlers) and Demetrius Denzel-Dyson (19). McMaster University forward Connor Gilmore also chipped in five points and three rebounds in a starting role in that game.
The Bandits lost back-to-back games to the Guelph Nighthawks. They were led by centre Dallin Bachynski (who had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the second Guelph game). However, the Bandits also received solid contributions from the bench with guard Tyrrel Tate (22 points) and first-overall pick Joel Friesen (9 points, eight rebounds). UBC forward Grant Shepard also had six points in 16 minutes of action.
Wednesday will be a historic night no matter what team comes out on top. The Honey Badgers can win their first-ever road game while the Bandits can celebrate their first-ever victory. Fraser Valley win also have the chance to do so in front of their home fans.
