The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday February 1 the re-signing of guard, Mathieu Kamba, for the 2022 season.

The two-time CEBL champion first joined Edmonton during the 2019 inaugural season. In 2020 Kamba rejoined the Edmonton Stingers for the CEBL Summer Series , where he averaged 12.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Notably, Kamba also had a team-high 2.0 steals per game.

As he has improved over the last few summers we have improved. I know he’s ready to take the next step and we will put him in the best position to do so.”

The 26-year-old Calgary native is currently playing in the LEB Gold League in Spain for Oviedo CB. In 15 games played he is averaging 31.9 minutes and 13.7 points per game.

“I’m very excited to be back with championship organization and I am looking forward to defending our repeat,” said Kamba.

In 2019, Kamba also played with Leyma Basquet Coruna of the LEB Gold League in Spain. He averaged 10.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 24 games. Of the 24 games played, Kamba started 18. The Calgary native recorded a season high 22 points against Acunsa GBC on January 26, 2020. He recorded a season high of 7 rebounds against Clínica Sur-Aspasia RVB on December 15, 2019.
