The Montréal Alliance announced Tuesday that it has signed NBA veteran Treveon Graham for the 2023 season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). A 6’6” shooting guard/forward, Graham played four seasons in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets (2016-18), Brooklyn Nets (2018-19), Minnesota Timberwolves (2019-20) and Atlanta Hawks (2019-20).
A native of Temple Hills, Maryland, Graham played the last two seasons in the NBA G League with the Long Island Nets, the Brooklyn Nets’ affiliate. Graham played 180 games in the NBA, averaging 4.2 points and 2.2 rebounds. The American has scored 10 or more points in 18 NBA games, including a 21-point game with the Brooklyn Nets on January 16, 2019.
“I am honoured to join the Montréal Alliance and be a part of this organization,” said Graham. “I look forward to contributing to the team’s goals and bringing my passion for the game to the court. Montréal is a vibrant city with passionate fans, and I am excited to embrace the opportunity to play in front of them.”
Graham played four collegiate seasons with the VCU Rams, where he became the 15th player to reach the 1,500-point plateau and graduated as the fifth highest scorer in program history with 1,667 points. Prior to the start of his sophomore season, Graham was selected by Sports Illustrated as the sophomore most likely to have a breakout season. The newest member of the Alliance went on to average 15 or more points per game in each of his following three collegiate seasons in addition to leading VCU in total points, rebounds, and three-point shots made in his senior year.
Graham represented the U.S. at the international level on several occasions, including at the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in 2022-23.
Graham joins returning players Alain Louis and Nathan Cayo, Québec natives Mamadou Gueye and Biniam Ghebrekidan, U Sports draft picks Aryan Sharma and Bahaïde Haïdara and 2022 CEBL Second Team All-Star Ahmed Hill as the seventh member of the team for the 2023 season. The Alliance plays its first of 10 home games at the Verdun Auditorium on May 26 against the Niagara River Lions.
