Exclusive Events on Tap for Celebration of Canadian Basketball in Winnipeg This Summer

Tickets to all three CW25 games at the lowest price available are on sale now via the Tournament Packs

The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) and Winnipeg Sea Bears, in partnership with the Province of Manitoba and City of Winnipeg, have begun to reveal details surrounding 2025 Championship Weekend (CW25) officially slated for August 21-24 in Winnipeg.


Canada Life Centre will take centre stage as CW25 promises to be one of the hottest tickets in Winnipeg next summer. Headlined by the Sea Bears locked in to play in the Western Conference Final as the host team, the Conference Finals doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. CT / 6 p.m. ET on Friday, August 22. The winners will then square off in the CEBL Championship Final on Sunday, August 24 at 6 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. ET where the 2025 CEBL champion will be crowned.


The general public now has its first opportunity to secure seats to all three games at the lowest price available all year with the CW25 Tournament Pack starting at $72 on sale HERE.

2025 CEBL Awards

Thursday, August 21 @ The MET (Metropolitan Entertainment Centre)

  • The annual CEBL Awards reception at The MET will be the first official event of CW25. Eight awards will be on the line, including the league’s MVP, Coach of the Year and Canadian Player of the Year. Ticket purchase includes access to the event plus food and two complimentary drinks


CW25 Commissioner’s Luncheon

Friday, August 22 @ The RBC Convention Centre

  • Hosted in partnership with the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce as part of their monthly luncheon series, CEBL Commissioner and Co-Founder Mike Morreale will host a panel of experts, including Michael Bartlett, President and CEO of Canada Basketball, Norva Riddell, Sr. Vice President, Sales & Chief Revenue Officer of True North Sports and Entertainment, and Cheryl Sebastien, Associate Vice President, Global Partnerships of NBA Canada, to engage in a discussion around the business of basketball and connecting brands with the power of sports


CW25 Street Festival

Friday, August 22 to Sunday, August 24 @ Graham Avenue

  • A free, three-day fan-friendly street festival featuring live music, food trucks, a local vendor market, 3x3 Basketball and more, will take place in True North Square and on Graham Avenue between Edmonton St. and Hargrave St.


CW25 CEBL Coaches Clinic, Presented by Fox40

Saturday, August 23 @ The RBC Convention Centre

  • The all-day event will include exclusive presentations by CEBL coaches from the six teams not competing at CW25 and a lunch break with food provided for all participants
  • Registered local coaches from minor club, high school, CCAA and U SPORTS will receive first-hand experiences to learn and understand best practices and coaching techniques to further their own development
  • Registration details for interested coaches will be announced in the coming weeks


Local Basketball Court Refurbishment

  • The Sea Bears and their partners at Buckets & Borders announced plans to refurbish another basketball court in Winnipeg with funds raised through CW25, as well as through their 50/50 program, sponsored by Cambrian Credit Union
  • It will mark the third court refurbishment completed by the group in underserved areas of the city

Les BlackJacks d’Ottawa de la Ligue élite canadienne de basketball (LECB), la plus grande ligue sportive professionnelle du Canada, ont annoncé aujourd’hui le retour de l'arrière Keevan Veinot pour la saison 2025. Le Canadien de 6 pi 4 po revient chez les BlackJacks après avoir établi des sommets personnels la saison dernière dans toutes les principales catégories statistiques, notamment les points par match (12,2), les passes décisives par match (5,0), les rebonds par match (3,2) et les minutes par match (28,2), lors de sa troisième saison dans la LECB. « Nous sommes ravis d’accueillir à nouveau Keevan à Ottawa pour un autre été, » a déclaré James Derouin, directeur général des BlackJacks. « En tant que fier Canadien et joueur remarquable du réseau U SPORTS, il apporte une combativité, un leadership et une capacité de création de jeu qui correspondent parfaitement à notre identité. Keevan comprend ce qu’il faut pour gagner dans cette ligue, et sa progression constante des deux côtés du terrain fait de lui un élément clé dans notre quête du championnat. » Originaire de Port Williams, Nouvelle-Écosse, il participe actuellement à sa troisième saison consécutive en BNXT League, le plus haut niveau professionnel en Belgique et aux Pays-Bas. Il occupe actuellement la quatrième place au classement des meilleurs marqueurs de la ligue avec une moyenne de 19,6 points par match, évoluant sous les couleurs de Donar Groningen. Au cours de sa carrière internationale, il a également joué pour LWD Aris Leeuwarden et le Port of Antwerp, affichant une moyenne de 15,4 points par match en championnat. Sélectionné au premier tour du repêchage U SPORTS 2021 de la CEBL par les Hamilton Honey Badgers, le joueur de 26 ans a amorcé sa carrière professionnelle cette même saison en inscrivant huit points, réussissant ses trois tirs sur trois lors du match du 26 juin 2021 à Edmonton. Ayant connu une carrière universitaire remarquable, Veinot a représenté l’Université Dalhousie de 2017 à 2022, récoltant de nombreuses distinctions. Il a notamment été nommé sur la première équipe d’étoiles du Sport universitaire de l’Atlantique (SUA) en 2019-2020 et 2021-2022, sur la première équipe d’étoiles canadiennes en 2019-2020, ainsi que sur l’équipe des recrues du SUA en 2017-2018, entre autres honneurs. En 2019-2020, il a remporté le titre de Joueur par excellence du basketball masculin du SUA, une première dans l’histoire de l’Université Dalhousie. Cette saison-là, il a mené son équipe pour la moyenne de points (15,6), les minutes jouées (30,3), les rebonds (5,2), les passes décisives (5,5) et les interceptions (2,3). Le basketball fait partie intégrante de l’héritage familial de Veinot. Sa sœur jumelle, Jayda, a joué pour l’Université Acadia de 2018 à 2022, puis pour l’Université du Nouveau-Brunswick de 2022 à 2024. Son père, Kevin, a été une étoile à Acadia, contribuant notamment au parcours de l’équipe de 1987-1988 jusqu’à la finale nationale. Sa mère, Jennifer Hale, a également connu beaucoup de succès, remportant deux championnats provinciaux au secondaire avec le Cobequid Education Centre et étant nommée Joueuse par excellence de l’AUAA à l’Université du Nouveau-Brunswick.
