The Calgary Surge have signed Troy Baxter Jr. for the 2024 season, the team announced Tuesday.
Baxter Jr. has been playing professionally for the last three years averaging 10.58 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.5 steals, and 17.5 minutes in 71 games in the NBA Summer League, NBA G-League, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, New Zealand, and Lebanon.
“Troy Baxter Jr. brings a significant amount of versatility to our roster. Standing at 6'9", he has the ability to guard multiple positions, leveraging his length and athleticism to disrupt opposing offenses effectively. As one of the most athletic players in our league, Troy excels in transition, where he can fully capitalize on his athletic abilities in open space,” said Surge General Manager Shane James.
He most recently played for the Manawatu Jets of the National Basketball League in New Zealand where he averaged 17.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 25.3 minutes in eight games played. Prior to his time in New Zealand, he spent some time with the Westchester Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) G-League.
“I am happy to be joining the Surge this season. I am all about winning and I am super excited to help the team achieve the main goal this year, which is to win a championship,” said Surge forward Troy Baxter Jr.
