May 22, 2024

Scotiabank Saddledome hosts 12,327 fans as CEBL tips off sixth season

The Calgary Surge and Edmonton Stingers launched the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s (CEBL) sixth season Tuesday in front of the largest single-game crowd in league history as 12,327 fans filed into Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. The game, televised nationally on TSN, tipped off at 7 p.m. local / 9 p.m. ET and is the first of the CEBL’s 2024 Opening Week powered by Neo Financial.

The CEBL, Canada’s largest professional sports league with 10 teams across six provinces, posted record growth numbers in 2023. The league experienced a 52% increase in total attendance in 2023 from 2022, and the Winnipeg Sea Bears (playing at Canada Life Centre) set both the former single-game record of 10,580 fans on August 4 against Edmonton in the Play-In round of the playoffs, and the former single-game regular season record of 8,230 fans on July 29 against Edmonton – both surpassed by the Surge this evening.

More than 50 CEBL games will be broadcast live nationally on TSN and Game+ this season, with an additional eight games in French on RDS. Fans can also livestream all regular season, playoff and Championship Weekend games on CEBL+ powered by BetVictor, TSN+ and the CEBL Mobile app for iOS and Android devices. Next Level Sports & Entertainment – The U.S. Home for CEBL, will pick up 40 CEBL games for its U.S. audience in 2024, while international streaming service, Courtside1891, will carry 27 games for subscribers outside of North America.

Season tickets and flex packs are now available league wide with priority seating access and preferred pricing. Ticket information for all CEBL games, including single-game tickets, can be found by visiting cebl.ca/tickets.
