The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Sunday that they have signed Lithuanian guard, Gediminas Juozapaitis. Effective last season, the CEBL announced each team will allocate one sport on its 10-man active roster to a non-American import - international player.
"Gedi is coming off of a tremendous collegiate career and we believe he will be the best shooter in the CEBL this season,” said general manager Brady Heslip. “We anticipate that Gedi's transition to the professional game will be seamless and his size and ability to shoot the basketball will make him a major asset to us. He will be surrounded by incredible playmakers and his ability to stretch the defense will be crucial for us this summer. We look forward to welcoming Gedi to Scarborough and watching him develop into a proven professional."
Juozapaitis recently graduated from Maine where he averaged 15.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 34.4 minutes per game last season. Prior to joining the Black Bears, Juozapaitis played two seasons at Georgia Southern. He finished his time there with 346 points, 99 rebounds, 64 assists, 11 blocks and 28 steals.
The Shooting Stars begin Training Camp this Thursday at Royal Crown Academic School. Their 2023 season on May 26 at the CAA Centre, in a rematch of last year’s CEBL championship game versus the Brampton Honey Badgers. Scarborough welcomes the Winnipeg Sea Bears to the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre for their first home game on June 2. For more information on the team, tickets and schedule visit
