Sports fans eager to get their hands on the best seats in the house for the inaugural season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League may do so now. The tipoff for putting down a deposit and securing a priority spot in line for 2019 season tickets begins Wednesday, August 15. Fans may access the team presales and place a $50 deposit by visiting their respective team’s website and following the prompts.
“Since we announced the formation of the Canadian Elite Basketball League on May 2, fans across Canada have been asking when they can purchase tickets. We are very excited to announce that priority seating begins now with the simple step of putting down a deposit on season tickets,” said Mike Morreale, chief executive officer of the CEBL. “Making world class professional basketball accessible and affordable to people across Canada is a priority for our league. In each of our six markets, the local team has put together a pricing structure that includes something for everyone who has varying expectations for their game experience.”
Season seats for the inaugural campaign are expected to go on sale to the public in the fall, with individual game tickets going on sale in spring 2019. The CEBL season runs from May through August 2019, with teams located in Hamilton, Guelph, Fraser Valley, Saskatchewan, Edmonton, and Niagara.
A league created by Canadians for Canadians, CEBL rosters will be comprised predominately of Canadians playing professionally during the traditional basketball season, along with international players and players drafted out of U Sports programs. It is the only FIBA-affiliated professional league in Canada, with a mandate to develop players, coaches, officials and sports executives. Each game day will feature a full slate of entertainment offerings before, during, and after games.
“Canada is emerging as one of the world’s leading producers of basketball talent, and the CEBL will fuel that movement,” Morreale added. “The league provides Canadians with a competitive platform during the summer months, and creates an opportunity for fans to watch that talent in person at premier arenas. Combining world class professional basketball and exceptional entertainment at family-friendly prices will provide a new experience for people of all ages that make these events more than just games.”
Each team will play 20 games, including 10 home dates, during the 2019 season. Plans call for the 2019 regular season schedule to be announced in the fall.
