Canadian Elite Basketball League Announces Leadership Team

Toronto, November 16, 2017 – The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is pleased to announce members of its launch committee and front office staff.

CEBL has established a team with significant experience in the sport and business industry – the launch committee will include Mike Morreale, Glenn Young, Carman Adair, Sebastien Chevrier, Mardig Sevadjian, Noelvi Leguizamon, and John Sabetti. Also announced, Richard Petko as the league’s President and primary investor, and Josh Knoester is named the league’s Director of Operations.

The team assembled to guide the league through its inaugural season is comprised of prominent Canadian business people with experience in the Canadian and International business landscapes. “Our launch committee is comprised of diverse backgrounds that will set the CEBL in the right direction,” said Richard Petko.

CEBL’s launch committee is comprised of seven individuals from all aspects of business. Mike Morreale joins the Committee after a 12 year career as an award winning receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Morreale’s professional portfolio is highlighted by his time as an executive with the CFL’s Players Association (CFLPA). Mike will advise the league’s player relations protocol as well as the organization’s business practices.

Glenn Young joins the launch committee after spending over 20 years in various senior sports management roles, including 10 years with International Management Group (IMG). Young will advise the CEBL on its business development objectives. “The CEBL will offer a new platform for corporate partners to associate their brands with one of Canada’s fastest growing participation sports. I am excited to be working with the new league, says Young”

Other CEBL launch committee members are five prominent business people with much experience in many diverse industries. Carman Adair, Sebastien Chevrier, Mardig Sevadjian, Noelvi Leguizamon, and John Sabetti join Morreale and Young on the league’s committee.

The league’s front office will include Josh Knoester as its Director of Operations. Josh is a graduate of Brock University’s Sport Management program and he began his professional career with the Niagara River Lions of the National Basketball League of Canada. “We are looking to do something special for Canadian sport – I am very fortunate to be a part of this operation and look forward to the opportunity”. The CEBL is also happy to name Nathan Brady as Operations Manager.

The CEBL will appoint a Chief Operating Officer in the coming weeks. The league will operate as a single entity league until local ownership groups are awarded select territories.

The CEBL will operate in accordance with the player and referee standards set by Canada Basketball, the National Sporting Organization for the sport of Basketball in Canada.
